Changes to the Nook and the Circulation Schedule

Hi Circulation People,

Here are some updates for everyone:

We are in the process of changing our Schedules and our Delivery Processes.

We will be processing all deliveries off of the desk.

The schedule will show hour by hour who is processing deliveries.

The people in the Nook will be responsible for the whole process.

In other words, the whole process will be occurring in the nook and at the hold shelf.  No more sending returns and holds to other locations.

Gary and Todd will be setting up the tables for us so that we can process in the Nook.

Circ People will ALSO be responsible for taking out the trucks of returns and sorting the materials.  We will not leave the materials in the nook.

Also, holds should NEVER BE LEFT UNATTENDED IN THE NOOK.

I think that this will be a very improved order of operations for us.  Here's why:

Public Service Desks can Focus on the excellent Public Service that we take pride in providing
Delivery processes will be backstage.  No interruptions!

More to come everyone!

2nd Person at Rear Circ

Rear Circ is becoming more of a Circulating Hub.  People are bringing materials to check out with more frequency and things are getting busier.  This is a good thing.

Also, the trucks are filling up more quickly as we process the returns and the holds.

So, here is the latest:  I am trying to put 2 people at Rear Circ whenever I can.

AND, if things are quiet you can move out the full trucks and sort them.

Also, bring the holds out to the open holds as regularly as possible.

Second people can also check in with the open holds to be sure that people are finding what they are looking for out there.

We are all Open Hold Ambassadors.

To Everyone in All Departments:  As Kelly says, please get holds out to the open hold area as quickly as you possibly can.

Thank you to everyone who has helped to make our first week of open holds such a success.

Checking holds out to patrons. No more

Hi There,

We have decided that we will no longer check holds out to library users.  We can, however, modify the holds for a few days OR cancel the hold and place it again.

We want all materials on our hold shelves to actually have the status of hold.

If you can't find a hold

Although holds may be getting generated in the Nook, they can still pop up at any public service desk.  Please, if you can not find a hold, check with Main Circ, Rear Circ,  Children's or AV especially if the hold was generated "today".  Materials can be checked in at any of these locations and they can still come up as holds.

If someone is in "The Nook" check with him or her  as well.

The Nook

Tory has come up with the perfect name for our new delivery space.

We are calling it The Nook!

Thank you Tory!
